Contemporary Art by Sally West -
Sally lives on the mid north coast of NSW, Pacific Palms. It's her major source of inspiration for her

09.11.11 -
Sally was recently invited to guest speak for the Portia Geach Memorial Award at the SH Ervin Gallery
on Sunday 30 October about her portrait of Reg Richardson ("Talking Rabbitohs and Rosalie Gascoigne
with Reg Richardson"). Sally was joined by respected art historian Annette Butterfield who spoke about
the life of Portia Geach and the history of the award.

08.11.11 -
Sally's latest achievement to be announced is that her painting, "Running Free On Whale Beach", has been
selected amongst the 50 finalists for the inaugural Hawkesbury Art Prize 2011. The Art Prize Project is
a not-for-profit project to raise funds to promote art and sponsor a local student to pursue their
creative education. It is structured as a community event in partnership with the University of Western
Sydney and SIFE, and will attract
a wide audience and high profile participants to the Hawkesbury region, embracing the cultural and economic
environment of the region.
The opening night will take place on Saturday 19th November 2011 at 6:00pm, and will be officially opened
by the Hon, John Brown. The awarding of prizes will also take place. For more information on this art prize

Sally is thrilled to be selected as a finalist in this year's Portia Geach Art Prize (2011), with her
painting of Reg Richardson titled "Talking Rabbitohs and Rosalie Gascoigne with Reg Richardson". The
Portia Geach Memorial Award is an annual award for Australian female portraitists. The award was
established in 1961 as a testamentary trust by Florence Kate Geach, sister of Australian painter
Portia Geach, with an initial endowment of 12,000 Australian pounds. It has grown into what has become
the most prestigious art prize in Australia for women only.

Sally's painting "South Palmy" has been selected as a finalist in the The 2011 Mosman Art Prize which
is an annual, acquisitive award for painting sponsored by Mosman Municipal Council. Established in
1947, the prize is one of the oldest and most prestigious, local government art awards in Australia.

The 2011 Pacific Palms Art Prize has announced Sally as the winner of the Landscape Section with her
painting "South Boomy Bus Stop". The prize was judged by Tristan Sharp, Assistant Director of the
Newcastle Regional Art Gallery. It's another great step in Sally's career!

16.05.11 -
The Charlatan Ink Art Prize is an international art prize based in New York City. Sally is proud to
announce her painting "South Westerly Winds" has been selected as a semi-finalist. The Winner will be
announced on the 29th of September at the 2011 Charlatan Ink Art Prize Exhibition Opening. The Reception
will be held within the Iconic Walls of the Manhattan Art Hotel, The Carlton Arms, 160 East 25th

Galerie 64 in France will be showcasing their best international artists from 30th April to 30th
June 2011. Sally West is proud to be part of this exhibition of celebrated artists from around the

Sally is thrilled to announce that her painting "Freshwater Village" has been selected as a finalist
in The Prometheus Art Prize which will be on exhibition from 28th May to 1st June from 9:00am - 4:30pm
at the All Saints Anglican School, Highfield Drive, Merrimac on the Gold Coast. Opening Night and
announcement of the winner will be on Friday 27th May at 7:00pm. All are welcome to attend. For more

Sally's first solo exhibition in New York opened on 7th April! The opening night was a great success!
The exhibition will run until April 30th and all are welcome to attend. Sally is very excited about
this wonderful opportunity that the new art centre has allowed her. She would like to thank Serge
Gregorian for believing in her work.

Sally's new solo exhibition of Australian urban beach landscapes from the Northern Beaches of Sydney
will be opening on 5th march at the Painters Gallery in Mona Vale, Sydney. The exhibition will run
for the whole of March and Sally hopes you can make it along. You can view the gallery here.

02.02.11 -
Sally has shown several times in New York in group exhibitions but this coming April will be Sally's
first solo exhibition at the CAN Gallery in Manhattan New York. There will be about 15 large works
in the exhibition, all in her highly textured abstract impressionistic aerial landscape style that
has captured the hearts of many overseas clientelle. The works are inspired by her childhood growing
up in Central NSW as a sheep farmers daughter.

Sally is honoured to be invited to exhibit at the Woollahra Times Art Gallery in Sydney at the end

winner! The Art Prize was judged by Annette Larkin, Fine Art Dealer and Valuer (www.annettelarkin.com) and Reg Richardson, Patron
of the Arts and Arts Collector.

Sally proudly announces the Societe Nationale Beaux Art of the Louvre (SNBA) Paris has awarded her a
very special award ("Prix Special du Salon 2009"). What a great honour!
